On the occasion of Fet Gede, November 2, the annual spiritual procession of Vodouisants in Jacmel, Haiti will again be held.
The procession forms at the "terrain Aviation", that is to say, the airfield a short distance outside of town, and proceeds through the streets of Jacmel to the cemetery.
Many different Vodou houses, Vodou organizations, unaffiliated Vodouisants, medsin fey (leaf doctors), fanm saj (literally "wise woman', midwives), and other traditionalists are expected to participate this year as every year.
Participants are encouraged to wear white.
In this procession, we hope to show the strength of our numbers, the significance of our faith, and our pride in our own affiliations.
Some stress will be placed this year on the religious rights of Haitians, and on coordinated responses to issues affecting the entire Vodouisant comunity.
